Sneak peek: July 2008 royalty books

Here's a look at some of the new royalty books coming our way next month! (Publication dates are subject to change.)

The First Queen of England: The Myth of "Bloody Mary" by Linda Porter. Biography. Mary I was a Latin scholar, a musician, and the most hated monarch in English history.

Henrietta Maria: Piety, Politics and Patronage edited by Erin Griffey. Essays about the wife of Britain's King Charles I.

Alexander the Great at the Battle of Granicus: A Campaign in Context by Rupert Matthews. Explain the battle and the context in which it took place.

Familia Caesaris by P. R. C. Weaver. A social study of Roman emperors' freedmen and slaves.

Napoleon's Privates: 2,500 Years of History Unzipped by Tony Perrottet. The theft of Napoleon's private parts after his death and similar historical mysteries.

The Last Queen: A Novel by C.W. Gortner. Challenges the myths about "mad" Queen Juana of Castile, revealing a determined woman.

The King's Favorite: A Novel of Nell Gwyn and King Charles II by Susan Holloway Scott. Nell Gwyn rises from poverty to catch the eye of a king.

If I could only read one of these books, I think it would be "The King's Favorite" because it looks the most entertaining to me right now. Which book would you choose?
