So many new royalty books are coming our way in April that I had trouble choosing just seven for this list! As always, publication dates are subject to change.
Hussein and Abdullah: Inside the Jordanian Royal Family by Randa Habib. During his 46-year reign, King Hussein of Jordan preserved his kingdom and maintained its neutrality. Today, King Abdullah II is following in his father's footsteps.
Grace Kelly Style: Fashion for Hollywood's Princess by Kristina Haugland, Jenny Lister, and Samantha Erin Safer. An illustrated introduction to Princess Grace of Monaco's glamorous wardrobe.
Cleopatra: A Biography by Duane W. Roller. Cleopatra's goal was always the preservation of her kingdom. Even her love affairs were carefully crafted state policies. This is the first account based solely on primary materials from the Greco-Roman period, including Cleopatra's own writings.
Terrible Exile: The Last Days of Napoleon on St Helena by Brian Unwin. The most powerful man of his age, Napoleon spent the end of his life in captivity. How did he react to exile?
The Queen's Pawn by Christy English. At age nine, Princess Alais of France is sent to live in England. As Alais grows up, Queen Eleanor of Aquitaine begins to see her as a threat, and their love for each other is overshadowed by rivalry.
No Will But His: A Novel of Kathryn Howard by Sarah A. Hoyt. Katherine Howard knows the danger of being the wife of Henry VIII. She must tell many lies to gain the throne.
Secrets of the Tudor Court by D.L. Bogdan. Novel about Mary Howard, wife of Henry Fitzroy, illegitimate son of England's King Henry VIII.
The full list of new royalty books will be published on the Royalty.nu Books page on April 1.
If I could only read one of these books, I would pick "Hussein and Abdullah" because as far as I know it's the first book in English about King Abdullah II. Which book would you choose?
Another book about Grace Kelly's style? I think I've just died and gone to heaven! So wonderful that the V&A is releasing a book like this for those of us who can't pop over to the UK to see the exhibit.
There's another book on Grace Kelly (sort of) coming next month, too! It's called "A Touch of Grace: How to Be a Princess, the Grace Kelly Way." Here it is at Amazon. When I started the Royalty.nu site there was nothing about her in print, so I'm glad to see the renewed interest.
Doh! I wish I'd known about that book before I placed the order for the style one yesterday through you!
Thank you for ordering that through my link! Since it's a pre-order and not shipping yet, maybe they would let you add the other book to the same order?
I tried to do that but it won't let me! 🙁
Ugh… sorry about that. Maybe you could you cancel the order and place it again.
It's already on its way so too late!
Well, for future reference and for anyone who's interested, here's a secret: Before I post the sneak peek, I post the same books on the Royalty.nu site.
For example, if you see a Grace Kelly book mentioned here on the blog, it can also be found on Royalty.nu's Grace Kelly book list, along with any other new books about the princess I've found — even if they're not posted on the New Royal Books page yet.
Watch the Updates page and you'll see which book lists I've been updating. That's where you can get a sneak peek even before I post the blog sneak peek.
