Sneak peek: June 2012 new royalty books

Next month's going to be a good one for historical fiction fans, with new novels about Marie Antoinette, Jane Grey, and other royal topics. Also scheduled to be published in June: a new biography of Prince William by well-known royal author Penny Junor.

The full list of new royalty books will be published on the Royalty.nu Books page on June 1, but here's a sneak peek!

Prince William: The Man Who Will Be King by Penny Junor. Biography that presents the prince as a well-balanced man who is determined to do the right thing.

The Great Survivors by Peter Conradi. Tells the story of eight European monarchies and how they made it into the 21st century.

Augustus by Karl Galinsky. Biography of the Roman emperor Augustus Caesar.

The King's Concubine by Anne O'Brien. Novel about Alice Perrers, mistress of England's King Edward III.

Her Highness, the Traitor by Susan Higginbotham. Novel about Frances Grey, mother of England's nine-day queen Jane Grey, and Jane Dudley, mother of Jane's husband, Guildford.

The Queen's Pleasure by Brandy Purdy. Novel about the mysterious death of Amy Robsart, the wife of Robert Dudley, beloved favorite of Queen Elizabeth I.

The Queen's Lover by Francine du Plessix Gray. Fictional account of the love affair between Count Axel Von Fersen and Marie Antoinette.

As always, publication dates are subject to change.

If I could only read one of the books listed above, I would probably choose The Queen's Pleasure because I'm curious to see how the author handled the topic. Which book would you choose?

  1. How about books about the unknown Royal Houses of Germany or other countries?

  2. Unfortunately, most books in English focus on British royalty. It would be good to see more published about other countries.
