So many intriguing-looking books are being published next month that I had trouble picking just seven titles for this list. Here's what I came up with:
Kate: The Future Queen by Katie Nicholl. Covers the Duchess of Cambridge's early life, her relationship with Prince William, her initiation into royal life, and her first pregnancy.
The New Royal Family: Celebrating the Arrival of Prince George of Cambridge by Ian Lloyd. Explores the lives of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and examines the monarchy's rules and traditions.
In the Footsteps of the Anne Boleyn by Sarah Morris and Natalie Grueninger. An illustrated trip through stately homes, castles, chapels and artefacts connected to Henry VIII's second wife.
The Assassination of the Archduke: Sarajevo 1914 and the Romance That Changed the World by Greg King and Sue Woolmans. When Austrian heir Archduke Franz Ferdinand married against the wishes of the emperor, he and his wife were shunned, yet they remained devoted to each other.
The Queens Regnant of Navarre by Elena Woodacre. About the five reigning queens of Navarre during the Middle Ages.
1808: The Flight of the Emperor by Laurentino Gomes. When Napoleon's forces invaded Portugal, Prince Regent João fled to Brazil with his entire family and most of the nobility. There he constructed roads, founded schools, created factories, and raised Brazil to kingdom status.
Royal Inheritance by Kate Emerson. Novel about a young woman in the court of Henry VIII who suspects she may be the king's illegitimate daughter.
As always, publication dates are based on U.S. publishing schedules and are subject to change. To see all of September's new royal books, visit the Royalty.nu Books next month.
If I could only read one of the books listed above, I would pick 1808: The Flight of the Emperor because it looks tremendously interesting. However, I'm glad I don't have to choose, because I'd like to read The Assassination of the Archduke and The Queens Regnant of Navarre, too. Which books appeal to you?
