Wow. An avalanche of new royalty books will descend on us in October! Here's your sneak peek.

A Unique Destiny by Simeon II of Bulgaria. The memoir of the last tsar of Bulgaria, who eventually became the country's prime minister.

The House of Jaipur by John Zubrzycki. About a glamorous Indian royal dynasty's transition into the modern world.

The Last Emperor of Mexico by Edward Shawcross. The tragedy of Maximilian and Carlota, who stumbled into power and faced bloody consequences.

The First Pharaohs by Aidan Dodson. About the rulers of the first three dynasties of ancient Egypt.

The White Ship by Charles Spencer. In 1120, English king Henry I's heir drowned along with hundreds of other Anglo-Normans.

Henry II and Eleanor of Aquitaine by Matthew Lewis. The early lives of the English king and his wife, who was duchess of Aquitaine.

The Two Isabellas of King John by Kristen McQuinn. Isabella of Gloucester and Isabelle of Angoulême, wives of England's King John, were central to shaping his reign.

As always, publication dates are subject to change. To see the full list of October 2021 new royalty books, visit the Royalty.nu Books page next month. But why wait? You can go over there right now to see the August and September new book lists while they're still available.

If I could only read one of the books listed above, I would choose The White Ship, having read an interesting article on the topic in BBC History Magazine. (And yes, the author of the book is Princess Diana's brother.) Which book would you choose?
